Father Scott

The Rev’d J. Scott Baker
Rector

jscottbaker@verizon.net

Scott was born in Greensboro, N.C., in 1967, the youngest of three boys, and grew up in Lexington, N.C. In 1990 he graduated from Western Carolina University with a B.S. in psychology, and after working in a state orphanage, he moved to Greenville, S.C., where he married Sheryl.

Raised a Baptist, in college Scott discovered the Episcopal Church. While in Greenville, he became deeply involved in Christ Church Episcopal and entered seminary at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn. Receiving his M.Div. in 2000, he was ordained to the diaconate at Trinity Cathedral of Columbia, S.C., then to the presbyterate at Grace Episcopal of Anderson, S.C.

In 2002, Scott became rector of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Ayer, Mass. It was there that Ian was born to Sheryl and Scott. In 2005 the Baker family moved to Newport News, Va., when Scott became our rector.
